Bruiser Questions

1.) Painless, because of all the things that Bruiser's life could be, painless isn't one. His life is nothing but pain and this world reminds him of that.

2.)Brewster has lived a secluded life in the "background." He's always tried to stay away from others because he doesn't want to risk the chance of hurting himself and possibly the ones he gets close to.
Brewster should try not to create a relationship, because getting close to someone, like he does with Bronte, is undoubtedly going to lead to pain.

3.) He has to decide whether or not to take the pain away from people. He could help so many, but at the risk of his own health so he obviously has to make some extremely tough decisions when he comes across people in pain.

4.) The perspective it is written in. Brewster lays out everything he's feeling in lists and in poems and other ways that aren't seen in other novels. I liked the way he used the lists to organize how he is feeling. Organizing it myself was hard when it was made so clear that Brewster was having trouble organizing it himself.

4th quarter blog: #5- Independent Reading

I want to read Lockdown, because the cover looks really cool, and I just like it. I think it's going to be about a post-apocolyptic world, and that the main character is somehow going to save it. My second choice would be Before I Die, because it looks interesting. I think that that one will be about somebody doing their bucket list.

Response to Byron's blog:

You have made some good choices in books and I think you'll like them.

4th Quarter #4- If Only . . .

If Tom Robinson was found not guilty, Bob Ewell would've gone mad and attacked either him or Atticus, but Mr. Tates or just somebody from the room would've restrained him and thrown him in jail. The book would've ended after everyone got back from the trial and everyone would start being more fair to black people in both court and in their everyday lives.

4th quarter #3- The Truth of The Matter

Tom Robinson

1.) How long have you been crippled?
2.) How long have you lived in Maycomb?
3.) How long have you worked for Deas?
4.) Did you meet Bob Ewell before this trial?
5.) How many kids do you have?
6.) How long have you been married to your wife?
7.) Have you ever physically hurt a female?
8.) Has Mayella Ewell tried to advance on you prior to this?
9.) Did you ever NOT do a task that Mayella asked you to do?
10.) Have you ever seen Bob Ewell hit his daughter?

Response to Andres' closet.

Your questions were very good questions.

4th quarter #2- Bravery and Courage

I think bravery is when you put everyone else above you for the greater good, basically being selfless. I think Atticus is the bravest person in the book so far, because he is representing Tom who everyone automatically assumes is guilty because he's black. I admire soldiers because they put themselves in harms way for us everyday.

4th Quarter #1- 1930s culture

During the Great Depression, which started when the stock market crashed on Black Thursday 1929 and lasted through the 1930s into the early 1940s, was a time in which the millions of people were put out of work, because of the terrible economy in America.  During this time the Dust Bowl also kept farmers from being able to produce a lot of food so people went hungry everywhere. Money was scarce and many took payment in the form of food, or manual labor. The great depression started to get better when Roosevelt came into office. The end of the Great Depression was the beginning of World War II.
