During the Great Depression, which started when the stock market crashed on Black Thursday 1929 and lasted through the 1930s into the early 1940s, was a time in which the millions of people were put out of work, because of the terrible economy in America. During this time the Dust Bowl also kept farmers from being able to produce a lot of food so people went hungry everywhere. Money was scarce and many took payment in the form of food, or manual labor. The great depression started to get better when Roosevelt came into office. The end of the Great Depression was the beginning of World War II.
